Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP) is a cosmetic tattoo procedure where natural pigment is applied to the epidermal layer of the scalp via a needle, to replicate the appearance of natural hair follicles.

By camouflaging the surface area of the scalp where hair loss has already occurred, it helps to create a new hairline for the client. Micro pigmentation is a popular cosmetic procedure for men and women of all skin types with pattern baldness, alopecia or hair loss.

While it does not cure the cause of hair loss, in conjunction with existing hair, it can help to create the look of a shaved full head of hair.

As well as the obvious boost to a client’s confidence, SMP treatment also offers a way to cover any surgery scars from past procedures.

How long will the treatment take?

A regular scalp micropigmentation treatment session will last anything from 2 to 5 hours. This is a timescale that really does vary. 1 to 3 sessions may be required to complete the treatment.

Like other tattoos, there can be pain when the procedure is carried out. However, due to the needles being thinner and the tattoo being small marks rather than long strokes, it is less uncomfortable than a normal tattoo.

When carried out by a trained professional in a clinical environment, this is a safe and popular procedure.

You may experience redness and peeling for up to a week after the procedure, recovery is faster than from a normal tattoo.

The effects of the tattoo last around 4 years and may then need an extra treatment to top it up.
